High Temperature Sensor Recall

Norcold Recall #10E-049

  • Models: 1200LR, 1200LRIM, 1201LRIM, 1210, 1211
  • Must fall within both serial number ranges:
    • Refrigerator serial number range from 315525 to 13088811
    • Cooling unit serial number range from 700000 to 13085759
  • Units produced from January 1, 2003 to October 6, 2010

If you are unsure if this recall has been performed or to report a recalled refrigerator, please contact us via the recall contact form.

If you know this recall has not been performed or if your HTS has tripped, and your refrigerator falls within both serial numbers, you should immediately:

  • Set the refrigerator controls to “OFF”
  • Unplug the refrigerator through the service vent on the outside of the vehicle
  • Disconnect from shore power (if applicable)
  • Contact a Norcold Authorized Service Center as soon as possible to get your unit inspected and the High Temperature Sensor kit ordered and installed

Owners of recalled refrigerators should NOT operate their refrigerator until it can be professionally repaired by a Norcold Authorized Service Center.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in a fire causing injury or death.

Note: If one or both of your serial numbers are outside of the recall serial number ranges listed above, and it is determined a replacement part is required, the Norcold Temperature Monitor Control (TMC), part number 637360, is available. The TMC is not covered under the High Temperature Sensor recall, and the consumer will be responsible for all costs incurred.

For consumers, please contact a Norcold Authorized Service Center.

For dealers, please use the dealer portal.

Helpful Hint: If you’re purchasing a used coach/travel trailer from a private owner equipped with a Norcold 1200 series refrigerator, Norcold recommends opening the access panel to ensure the High Temperature Sensor recall kit is present and installed properly. If unsure, please contact a Norcold Authorized Service Center.
Does Norcold pay for mobile service call fees? ?

No, the consumer is responsible for the service call fee as it is a convenience.

What does it mean if I have a solid red light??

Your kit has tripped. Please contact a Norcold Authorized Service Center.

What does it mean if I have a flashing red light? ?
  • If slow flashing (1 flash per second): Low DC power.
  • If fast flashing (2-3 flashes per second): There’s a break in thermistor wire.

Please contact a Norcold Authorized Service Center.

My refrigerator stopped operating. Will a removal of the HTS kit make the refrigerator work??

Your refrigerator can stop operating for several reasons. Norcold recommends contacting a Norcold Authorized Service Center to have your unit diagnosed.

Bypassing, altering, or modifying any of the electrical components of your refrigerator, including the HTS system, can limit or remove safety aspects of your refrigerator and should not be done under any circumstances.

Will Norcold reimburse me for a recall repair paid for out of pocket??

No, all recalled diagnostic information needs to be reported by a Norcold Authorized Technician to our Dealer Service department in order for the recall repair to be covered in full.

Can a consumer have a HTS kit sent directly to them for self-install??

No, as the Norcold High Temperature Sensor is a national safety recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, we are not able to send parts directly to consumers.
