ANN ARBOR, Mich. Showing innovation and a commitment to the environment, Thetford Marine is a winner of this year’s Corp! Going Green Awards. The program includes three categories; Green Initiative Champions, Green Industry Innovators and Green Organizations. Thetford was selected as a Green Industry Innovator as it’s one of the few companies to develop and produce green cleaning formulas for boaters.
Five of Thetford’s marine care products are Design for the Environment (DfE)-recognized. The EPA started the DfE program to champion risk reduction through pollution prevention. Additionally, the company’s Boat Wash was chosen as Staff Pick from BoatUS Foundation as best all-around green product. It also introduced EcoSmart, a full line of EcoLogo-certified holding tank deodorants. EcoLogo is North America’s oldest, most recognized environmental standard and certification agency.
“The EPA holds our products to a higher standard than household cleaners because they’re used outside,” said Mary Burrows, Thetford’s manager of chemical development. “We’re very proud of this award because we thoroughly tested our formulations and were able to maintain the same exceptional performances within the DfE requirements.”
