Walberg Tours Thetford Plant, Conducts Town Hall Meeting with Employees

DEXTER, Mich. Ð Congressman Tim Walberg, Michigan 7th District U.S. Representative, toured Thetford CorporationÕs manufacturing plant here today, viewing lean manufacturing practices in action. Widely acknowledged as a leader in lean, the company has taken manufacturing time down and increased productivity by using internal ingenuity from the plant floor.

Following the tour, Walberg took part in an annual company luncheon, spoke to employees and answered questions. Issues discussed included the CongressmanÕs universal healthcare bill that emphasizes consumer choice and market competition.

There also was considerable discussion about the high cost of energy. Walberg told Thetford employees, ÒI support the current congressional bill promoting domestic energy exploration. You too can voice your opinion at 202-224-2131.Ó He added that the bill emphasized longer-term tax incentives for alternative energy initiatives such as wind turbines.

ÒIt was a good opportunity to have the Congressman at our facility and we appreciate his support of the RV industry not only in Washington, but as an avid RVer. The Congressman pointed out that his 1994 trailer still has the original Thetford and Norcold products and they still work great,Ó said Thetford CEO Jack Tierney.
